Is Jonathan Taylor Playing This Week? Everything You Need To Know About Colts RB Ahead Of Texans Matchup

Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor has had an MVP-worthy season that once saw the team at the top of the NFL standings, with Taylor as the most dominant running back in the league. However, the team has run into a slew of injuries, most especially the quarterback position, which saw the Colts go from Super Bowl favorites to being eliminated from playoff contention in a blink of an eye.

The Colts have one last game to close out a disappointing season, and it will be against the playoff-bound Houston Texans. The question is, will Jonathan Taylor be playing?

Taylor was not listed on this week’s injury report at all and fully practiced on all three days of Week 18, from Wednesday to Friday. He is also not in trouble with the league and not suspended, which means that the Colts superstar is expected to play against the Texans.

The Colts also revealed in their latest depth chart that Jonathan Taylor will be starting on Week 18 against the Texans, with Tyler Goodson and Ameer Abdullah being his backups. Several key players are confirmed to be out, however, including cornerback Sauce Gardner and tight end Will Mallory. QB Anthony Richardson fully participated in practice but is still expected to be out, as he continues dealing with an eye injury.

As for Taylor, he has been a beast for the Colts this year, with 1,559 rushing yards for this season already, with 309 carries and 18 rushing touchdowns. He also averages 5.5 yards per carry as he has proven to be one of the best players in the league today.

Jonathan Taylor Could Win NFL Rushing Title After Game vs. Texans

The Week 18 showdown between the Indianapolis Colts and the Houston Texans also marks the first-ever NFL start for rookie quarterback Riley Leonard, who could play into a big personal achievement for Jonathan Taylor at NRG Stadium.

Taylor can win the NFL’s rushing title on Sunday, but he has to play well, as he is currently trailing Buffalo’s James Cook by 47 yards, and he can surpass that against the Texans to win the rushing title. The game against Houston is his final chance to do so, as the Colts have already been eliminated from playoff contention.
