Buffalo Bills defensive end Joey Bosa is captivating the attention of fans and fantasy owners regarding his status for the upcoming clash against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Many want to know if Bosa will feature in the Week 14 showdown after he suffered a hamstring injury in his last game.
What Happened To Joey Bosa?
In the Bills’ 26-7 victory against the Pittsburgh Steelers, he recorded a strip-sack that led to a defensive touchdown from Christian Benford. He left the game after that play and did not return.
Head coach Sean McDermott said on Monday:
“Joey Bosa has a hamstring. We’ll see where that goes.”
Bosa has recorded 5.0 sacks and a league-leading five forced fumbles this season.
Latest Update On Joey Bosa’s Availability
As per the latest Wednesday practice report, Joey Bosa did not participate in the practice session. Head coach Sean McDermott confirmed Bosa will not participate in practice. The head coach also added that Bosa might take anywhere from 1-to-5 weeks to return.
Bosa’s availability will largely depend if he’s able to log any time on practice in subsequent sessions until Friday.
Without Bosa, the Bills’ pass rush takes a major hit since other defensive ends such as Michael Hoecht and Landon Jackson remain sidelined. In Bosa’s absence, the Bengals’ surging offense, ever since Joe Burrow returned, will pose a serious challenge to the likes of A.J. Epenesa, Greg Rousseau, and others.
Earlier this season, Bosa suffered from a calf strain, but put in the hard yards in the offseason. He received respect from his head coach, Sean McDermott, who said:
“Couldn’t be more happy with the work that he’s put in to come back healthy and ready to go. And we’ll have a rep plan for him to manage things to the best of our ability, to try and keep him as healthy as possible.”
It remains to be seen if Bosa is in for the long haul or will return soon.
