Joe Burrow Injury: What Does Cincinnati Star’s Practice Return Mean for QB?

After putting together one his best individual seasons last year, Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow had this year’s season interrupted, heading on injured reserve following a Week 2 injury.

Facing the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 2, Burrow was sacked, and left the game with a foot injury. it was later revealed that Burrow suffered a turf toe injury and significant ligament damage. The injury required surgery, and Burrow was placed on injured reserve, and has been sidelined since.

After Burrow has been sidelined for the last seven weeks, the Bengals have designated his return off of injured reserve. His 21-day practice window will begin today, and the Bengals have to activate him in the next 21 days. He is expected to make his return in Week 13 against the Baltimore Ravens on Thanksgiving night.

Burrow is currently in the next step of his return which is practicing. With Burrow being activated from injured reserve, his progress has gone well, as most thought he wouldn’t initially be back until December.

Can the Cincinnati Bengals make a late playoff push with Joe Burrow?

Following a 47-42 loss to the Chicago Bears last week, the Cincinnati Bengals sit at 3-6 and are in third place in the AFC North division. The team will still be without Burrow for at least the next two games, which are tough matchups against the Pittsburgh Steelers and New England Patriots.

Even down the line, the Bengals still have two divisional games with the Baltimore Ravens and Buffalo Bills. As of right now, the Bengals currently sit as the 11th seed and NFL.com has them having a 2% chance of making the playoffs. A loss would essentially eliminate them.

Even with Joe Burrow returning and even if they won out, there would be high chance that he Bengals would not be playoff bound.
