Is Joe Burrow Coming Back This Season? Latest Update on Bengals QB’s Recovery

Joe Burrow has been injured with a turf toe injury since Week 2 of this year’s season. Since then, he has been absent, and backup Jake Browning had to take over for him. He did so in a poor fashion, with him losing three straight games to the Minnesota Vikings, Denver Broncos, and Detroit Lions.

In the middle of the emergency, the Bengals traded for Joe Flacco, who brought some hope to the struggling franchise by winning his first game against a Pittsburgh Steelers team led by Aaron Rodgers. However, since then, they have lost games to the New York Jets and the Chicago Bears.

With their postseason hopes fast diminishing, the question remains: When will Joe Burrow return?

    What Happened to Joe Burrow?

Joe Burrow suffered a third-grade toe turf injury during Cincinnati’s Week 2 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars. The injury necessitated surgery, and he has since then been out of action. He remains on the Injured Reserve list.

Will Joe Burrow Play Again This Season?

There are some reports that he could. Everything is pointing to Joe Burrow being able to return in mid-December, which, depending on how their season goes, means that he could potentially help them make a final postseason push.

The latest person to give an update on the situation was NFL insider Jordan Schultz on Oct. 22:

“If they beat the Jets and they go to 4-4, with the way the AFC North is shaping up, the way that Joe Burrow is rehabbing, which from everything I’ve been told is going excellent, meaning he could be back mid-December, it would be very sensible for Cincinnati to add another player at the deadline,” Schultz said.

NFL Network’s Ian Rappaport gave a similar update earlier this month, but the weeks have passed, and no further information has been released about the situation. However, rumours have come up. Among them is the possibility that the New York Jets might try to trade for the Bengals quarterback. A possibility Adam Schefter himself didn’t feel like denying this week on “Get Up”.

The Cincinnati Bengals are in dire need of quarterback Joe Burrow returning to bolster their postseason hopes.
