Jeremiyah Love was college football’s top running back in 2025. He was at the heart of Notre Dame’s offense this season, and despite the Irish missing the College Football Playoff, he was rewarded with being named a finalist for the Heisman Trophy.
Despite coming in last among the four finalists, he’s certain to be a coveted player in the 2026 NFL Draft. Here are the top teams that could benefit from picking him.
Top 5 Landing Spots For Jeremiyah Love
#5 Minnesota Vikings
The Minnesota Vikings are the least likely to pick Jeremiyah Love, due to their record of 6-8 so far; it seems unlikely that they will have a chance to select him. But they’re possibly one of the teams that need him the most. Their running game has been a committee effort this season, with one of their two top rushers, Aaron Jones, being 31 years old. Their top rusher, Jordan Mason, is 26 years old and has 659 rushing yards. They need to find another partner for him, with Jones likely retiring soon. This would help take some heat off quarterback J.J. McCarthy.
#4 Dallas Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys have found gold in Javonte Williams, who has filled in for Tony Pollard after the latter’s departure to the Tennessee Titans. However, it would be very in character for Jerry Jones’s franchise to take a running back in the first round of the NFL Draft. If they have the opportunity, it would be unlike for America’s Team to pass on a Heisman finalist. Whether this is the correct decision for them remains to be seen, but it’s not unlike them to prioritize publicity over pragmatism.
#3 New Orleans Saints
Alvin Kamara is nearing the end of his career, and he has already been highly durable for a running back with nine seasons in the NFL. His age is already evident in his low yardage this season, with only 471 yards and one touchdown so far. The Saints’ 4-10 record so far this season also puts them in place to pick high in the 2026 NFL Draft. Jeremiyah Love could be the first piece in a lengthy rebuild.
#2 Washington Commanders
The Commanders are in a similar situation to New Orleans, with the difference that they’re further along in their rebuild, having already picked a Heisman Trophy winner to be their quarterback a couple of years ago. However, forcing Jayden Daniels to be so mobile has proven to be dangerous, with the signal-caller facing several injuries this season. Why not pair him with Jeremiyah Love to take some hits off him? At their current record of 4-10, they might have a genuine shot at it.
#1 Arizona Cardinals
The Cardinals have one of the worst records in the league at 3-11, which puts them in a prime position to draft Jeremiyah Love out of Notre Dame. Add to this that James Conner is pushing 30 and barely played this season before suffering a season-ending foot injury. Bam Knight and Emari Demercado have been unable to fill in for him, and if we add to that the sad episode of Demercado dropping a game-winning touchdown, it’s safe to say the Cardinals are looking for a new running back.
