After missing that Week 4 game against the Minnesota Vikings in Ireland, the Pittsburgh Steelers may be getting injured running back Jaylen Warren back soon. This comes just in time as the team returns from its Week 5 bye against the Cleveland Browns on Week 6, though the question is, will he actually return for that game?
Is Jaylen Warren Hurt?
Jaylen Warren injured his knee before that Ireland game on Week 4 against the Minnesota Vikings, with the staff opting for him to sit the game out and rest his injury. The Steelers did not have a game for Week , enjoying a bye week, which was good news for the running back as it gave him more time to heal.
However, as the Steelers begin practicing for Week 6 against the Cleveland Browns, reports indicated that Warren was back and was practicing with his team once again. Reports noted that he was doing some individual drills but it was not reported how much he worked out, or if he was limited in practice.
Is Jaylen Warren Playing Week 6?
Knee injuries can be very serious and can last for years, though with Warren now back in practice, it should indicate that his return would be imminent. Despite him practicing again, however, his status has not been revealed yet, so it is possible that the Steelers may choose to sit him out again this week just to be safe.
However, it is also possible that he will finally return for Week 6 against the Cleveland Browns. This is his first year as the starting running back for the Steelers and so far, he has been impressive, with 43 carries for 132 rushing yards in three games, though he has yet to score a touchdown, He also has 11 receptions for 142 yards and one touchdown.
Jaylen Warren Fantasy Outlook
With Jaylen Warren possibly returning, it would be best for fantasy managers to adopt a wait-and-see approach as it is also possible that the team opt to sit him out.
One of the main reasons for this was his backup running back, Kenneth Gainwell, who was instrumental in that win against the Vikings with 19 carries for 99 yards and two touchdowns, with six catches for 35 yards. It is possible that Gainwell would be challenging Warren for that starting position, so Fantasy managers better wait for now regarding Warren.
