Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jayden Reed has been out of action since getting himself injured during Week 2. This has affected not just the team, but also Fantasy Football owners who may have added him as part of their team, with many either dropping him or benching him as he remained injured. As Week 8 approaches, the question now is, when could he finally return?
Before his return, Reed had been one of the best young running backs the Packers have, but his Week 2 injury put a pause on things. So far, he has had three receptions for 45 yards and a touchdown during Week 1 and got injured during a drive on Week 2, which means that he has plenty more to prove once he returns.
What Happened to Jayden Reed?
Reed injured himself during a play that would have been a 39-yard touchdown, which the referees ruled out thanks to a holding penalty on right tackle Anthony Belton. He did not just injure his foot, but also his clavicle, and he has had surgeries on both these big injuries.
Packers head coach Matt LaFleur stated that after the surgery, the wide receiver is expected “to miss a lot of time” and that his injury had been a “big blow” to the team.
Jayden Reed had already suffered a foot injury ahead of the preseason, and even missed training camp because of it. For now, the team has been very cautious in approaching his injury, especially as he has been one of their best producers in the wide receiver position, leading the team in receptions and receiving yards in the 2023 and 2024 seasons.
Is Jayden Reed Playing Week 8?
The Green Bay Packers will be taking on the Pittsburgh Steelers for Week 8, and this begs the question if he will be healthy enough to play? The answer is no, he is not. His injury will likely sideline him for six to eight weeks, with his return estimated to be around Week 10 or Week 11, but that is if his rehabilitation goes as well as planned.
Jayden Reed Fantasy Outlook
For Fantasy managers, Reed is not expected to be back in two to four weeks, which means it should be safe to drop him or keep him in reserve until he finally comes back. Reed is a monster and one of the best producers that the Packers have, so keeping him and sitting him might be a good idea.
For now, the Packers have been playing Matthew Golden as his backup and he has so far been playing well.
