For Week 10, Monday Night Football will feature the Green Bay Packers taking on the Philadelphia Eagles, but the question is, will the Packers be without wide receiver Jayden Reed. He has been in the injured reserve for over a month now and is already eligible to play again, so will he be back against the defending champs?
What Happened To Jayden Reed?
The wide receiver has been out since Week 2 after he broke his collarbone during that win over the Washington Commanders. He was trying to catch a touchdown pass, which was soon negated because of a penalty. Reed had landed on his shoulder, leading to that injury that forced him to receive surgery.
To make matters worse, Reed had been playing with an injured foot, which also got surgically repaired. He got that one during training camp, and it was soon discovered that it was actually fractured.
These two injuries, plus that recovery time needed after major surgeries, meant that Jayden Reed would have to miss a lot of games this season. However, with him now eligible to play again, will he be back in time for Monday’s showdown against the Eagles? Probably not.
The Packers are taking a careful approach in ensuring that the wide receiver will return at 100%. The injury itself is not season-ending, so he is expected to at least be back later this season.
When Will Jayden Reed Return?
There is no exact timeline yet, but a report from Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel estimates it around Week 13 or Week 14, which will be against two tough opponents. Should he return around Week 13, they will be facing one of the best teams in the league, the Detroit Lions. Should he return around Week 14, the Packers will be taking on the Chicago Bears.
For the meantime, the Packers still have him on the injured reserve but are constantly getting him tested with MRIs to ensure that his collarbone and foot injuries have healed. These test results would determine whether he has healed enough to play, though that is not expected for this week.
Reed has been a very productive part of the Packers offense, making three receptions for 45 yards and scoring one touchdown over 23 snaps during the first two games of the season. He had been the team leader in receiving yards for the Packers in 2023 and 2024.
