Jayden Reed Injury Update: What Fantasy Owners Need to Know About Packers WR Ahead of Week 9

Before the start of the season, the Green Bay Packers were hopeful that wide receiver Jayden Reed would continue his positive trajectory. Last season, he had 55 receptions for 857 yards and six TDs. He got out to a solid start in Week 1, making three receptions for 45 yards and one TD. However, he was injured early in Week 2 and has not returned to the lineup since.

    What Happened to Jayden Reed?

Early in the Packers’ game against the Washington Commanders in Week 2, Jayden Reed suffered a broken collarbone. The initial report indicated that he would undergo surgery and be unavailable for the team for six to eight weeks.

The injury occurred on a play when Reed appeared to catch a 39-yard TD pass and landed hard on his shoulder. However, the catch was wiped out by a penalty.

When Will Jayden Reed Be Back?

The coaching staff has not indicated whether Jayden Reed will return in Week 9. However, there are indications that he could be closing in on a return. On Friday last week, he was seen at practice for the first time since undergoing surgery.

His appearance at practice came six weeks after suffering the injury. So, we are right in the six-to-eight-week window that was originally set for Reed’s return.

    Jayden Reed Fantasy Outlook

If there is a report that Reed is able to return to the Packers’ lineup, he could be a good fantasy add. He appeared to be off to a strong start to his season in the few games that he appeared in early in the year.

However, it is always important to be cautious when players return from injuries. Reed will be playing catch-up when it comes to his fitness because of the injury. As a result, he might not be as effective when he returns as he was in Week 1.

Fantasy Replacements If Jayden Reed Misses Week 9

If Jayden Reed is on your IR and is not cleared to play in Week 9, there should still be plenty of waiver wire options available to you. Denver’s Try Franklin, New England’s Kayshon Boutte, and Houston’s Jaylin Noel are all interesting options. If you want a player on the Packers, Christian Watson will likely be available.
