Jayden Daniels Injury Update: What Fantasy Owners Need to Know About Commanders QB

During Week 8, Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels did not play against the Kansas City Chiefs for their Monday Night Football showdown due to injury. This was the third game he missed this season, and this has many fans and fantasy managers asking if he would be back in time for the showdown against the Seattle Seahawks.

This has been an injury-filled season for Daniels so far, as the quarterback missed two games earlier in the season because of a knee strain,

    What Happened to Jayden Daniels?

After his first injury of the season, he played for three games until the Week 7 showdown against the Dallas Cowboys. There, he suffered his second injury of the season, which was revealed to be a hamstring strain. Just like his first injury, this one is not really seen as a serious one, but it was still bad enough for him to miss the Week 8 Chiefs game.

During Week 8, Daniels missed all three practices and was seen as questionable before head coach Dan Quinn decided to sit him out for that game. Washington struggled offensively against the Chiefs, ultimately falling to Patrick Mahomes and crew, 25-7.

“We knew it wasn’t going to be significant, meaning long, but also not well enough to say, ‘Okay, in six days it’s ready to go based on speed and how you would handle this type of injury,'” Quinn said. “So all of the week will be focused for him on the rehab in hopes of the following week, so I’ll assess that next week as opposed to some practice and some not, just put all of it, all the time and effort into that.”

Is Jayden Daniels Playing Week 9?

Yes, it appears Jayden Daniels is on track to return for Week 9. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Commanders quarterback “should be back this week” as Washington prepares to face the Seattle Seahawks.

Daniels has missed the last game with a hamstring injury, but reports indicate the issue is not serious and that he’s made strong progress in recovery. The team will still monitor his workload in practice, but barring any setbacks, Daniels is expected to reclaim the starting job under center.

    Jayden Daniels Fantasy Outlook

This is good news for fantasy managers, as Daniels’ dual-threat ability immediately reestablishes him as a viable QB2 with upside. While the Commanders may manage his mobility early to avoid re-aggravation, his rushing potential and red-zone involvement keep him fantasy-relevant.

Assuming he’s active, Daniels should be started in most formats – especially in favorable matchups, but managers should still keep a backup ready in case of a late-week setback. His hamstring injury appears to be behind him, positioning him for a strong second-half fantasy push.
