Jayden Daniels Injury Update: Will Washington QB Play In Week 14?

Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels had one of the best rookie quarterback seasons in recent times a season ago. Daniels led the Commanders to a 12-5 record and an improbable playoff run that saw the Commanders end up in the NFC Championship game.

After throwing for 3,568 yards, 25 touchdowns, and rushing for 891 yards and six touchdowns, Daniels was awarded the 2024-2025 Offensive Rookie of the Year.

Looking to avoid a sophomore slump, it’s been tough for Daniels who has slightly underperformed in numbers and has suffered a few injuries. Daniels’ recent injury has kept him sidelined for the Commanders’ last three games.

    What Happened To Jayden Daniels?

Jayden Daniels suffered a significant injury to his non-throwing elbow in the Commanders’ Week 9 game against the Seattle Seahawks. As Daniels was getting tackled on a play, he landed awkwardly on his elbow, causing it to snap out of place.

Further tests revealed that Daniels suffered a dislocated elbow. As a result, Daniels has missed the last three games and has been out for weeks with the bye week in between.

Daniels dodged a bullet by not suffering any tendon damage, avoiding potentially a longer injury.

Will Jayden Daniels Play In Week 14?

As of right now, Jayden Daniels‘ status for the team’s Week 14 game against the Minnesota Vikings is uncertain. However, it doesn’t sound the most optimistic that he will play.

Multiple reports showed today that Daniels still hasn’t been cleared to practice yet.

Though he has yet to be cleared yet, head coach Dan Quinn has not ruled Daniels out for this Sunday. The team could wait until Friday to make a decision on whether or not Daniels will be active.

For what it’s worth, Daniels was a limited participant in the team’s three practices last week before being ruled out. If he is unable to play this weekend, backup Marcus Mariota will get another start.
