It just hasn’t been the season the Washington Commanders had expected or hoped for heading into the 2025-2026 NFL season. The Commanders sit in third place in the NFC East with a 3-8 record.
Starting quarterback Jayden Daniels suffered an injury early in the season and has been out recently with a second injury. Daniels being sidelined hasn’t helped the Commanders out at all this season and they’ve suffered from it.
Jayden Daniels Injury Update
During the Washington Commanders’ Week 9 game against the Seattle Seahawks, Jayden Daniels landed awkwardly on his elbow, causing it to snap out of place when he landed on the ground. It was later revealed that he suffered a dislocated elbow.

The Commanders got some positive news regarding the injury shortly after, as there was no ligament damage suffered in the injury. As a result, the team did not place him on injured reserve, thinking that he could return as soon as four weeks with the team having a Week 12 bye.
While Daniels did return to practice, he has not been cleared for contact yet.
Is Jayden Daniels Playing In Week 13?
It sounds as if Jayden Daniels has a big chance of being inactive for Sunday’s game against the Denver Broncos. Daniels was evaluated during the team’s bye week and sources say it would be a long shot for him to play this weekend. This would be the third game in a row that Daniels will miss with the elbow injury.

Who’s Next On Commanders QB Depth Chart?
If Jayden Daniels is inactive again this weekend, it will be Marcus Mariota leading the Washington Commanders at quarterback. Mariota has started five games this season under center for Washington and has appeared in seven total with a 1-4 starting record.
Mariota has thrown for 1,065 yards, seven touchdowns, and five interceptions while rushing for 193 yards and a touchdown.
