Jayden Daniels Injury Update: What Fantasy Owners Need to Know About Commanders Star’s Status

During last Sunday’s game against the Seattle Seahawks, the Washington Commanders did not just lose in a one-sided 38-7 beatdown, but they might have also lost quarterback Jayden Daniels. He suffered what seems like a massive injury that may put him on the shelf for a long time.

A new update on his injury has been revealed by NFL insider Ian Rapaport, who reported that Daniels suffered a dislocated elbow. He would still have to take an MRI later today to see the extent of the injury, and depending on the results, he may be out longer. However, Rapaport also revealed that the Commanders are quite optimistic and believe that the injury is “not that bad.”

“QB Jayden Daniels, who left Sunday’s loss with his left arm immobilized, suffered a dislocated elbow and will have an MRI today to determine how long he’s out, sources say. The belief is it’s not as bad as it could’ve been. But Daniels will miss several games.” said Rapaport.

Rapaport also reported that the X-rays on Daniels’ left arm were negative, so there is a chance that he may even return later in the season. The injury also happened on the quarterback’s non-throwing shoulder, which means that should he return, it would not be much of a factor.

That being said, the chances of the Commanders making the playoffs this year is looking grim, as the team fell to 3-6 after that loss to the Seahawks. Should Daniels come back later this season, he might not be able to save his team from elimination, especially with this season’s struggles with him on active duty.

Dan Quinn Addresses Decision That Led To Jayden Daniels Dislocating Shoulder

During that blowout loss to the Seahawks on Sunday, head coach Dan Quinn decided to let Jayden Daniels still play despite the game being already out of reach. This resulted in him being tackled and landing awkwardly late in the game, with him ultimately dislocating his shoulder, Dan Quinn addressed why he still let Daniels play:

“Obviously, the hindsight,” you don’t want to think that way that an injury would take place. We were more conservative in that spot to run and hand off. Just the end result, obviously I’m bummed. …We didn’t have any read plays on it. there’s usually a runner or a throw to the flat, not a scramble. So it wasn’t a designed read or play into that spot,” he said.

Still, Daniels is expected to miss several games, though a return near the end of the season may be possible. Marcus Mariota is expected to start with him on the shelf.
