Did Jaxson Dart just narrow down the New York Giants head coach search to two names? It seems like he did. The former Ole Miss Rebels quarterback recently attended the Fiesta Bowl between the Rebels and the Miami Hurricanes.
Dart received a warm welcome from the fans when he was shown on the screen. As the game went underway, he was enjoying everything from the sidelines. Then, late in the second quarter, he was seen talking to an Ole Miss assistant.
A Giants fan posted a video of their conversation on X. While they weren’t audible in the video, the fan did his best to understand what Dart was trying to say when asked about who would be the next head coach.
“I don’t know.. Harbaugh or Stefanski.. but I don’t know,” Dart said as per the fan.
It’s no surprise that the Giants are in dire need of a new head coach and a new direction as a franchise. Their struggles have become a norm, which is unfortunate because they have capable players like Dart.
The Giants fired their head coach, Brian Daboll, after the team went to a 2-8 start to the 2025 season. He was then replaced by Mike Kafka as their interim head coach. Kafka has been with the team since 2022 in various roles, including the assistant head coach.
After taking over from Daboll, Kafka went 2-5 with the team. He remained determined to be the full-time head coach and even had an interview with the Giants for the permanent role as their head coach.
But he’s not the only one interviewing for the job. The two names that Dart allegedly mentioned are also in the race for the position.
Who Will Be the Next Giants Head Coach?
The Giants had another terrible run this year, finishing 4-13 and at the bottom of the NFC East chart. Midway through the season, the Giants realized they needed to make some changes, which is what led to Daboll being fired.
Other than Kafka, the Giants are also interviewing former Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski, Broncos defensive coordinator Vance Joseph, Colts defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo, Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak, and former Cowboys and Packers head coach Mike McCarthy.
After the Ravens fire John Harbaugh, ending his 18-year run with the team, he has also become a prime candidate for the job. With a proven track record in Baltimore, Harbaugh is one of the frontrunners for the job.
