What Happened to Javonte Williams? All We Know About Cowboys Star’s Injury vs Commanders

The Dallas Cowboys held off the Washington Commanders in its 30-23 Christmas Day victory, but lost starting running back Javonte Williams with an injury.

After scoring a four-yard rushing touchdown early in the second quarter, Williams left the game as the team ruled him questionable to return with a shoulder injury. Prior to his exit, Williams looked to be in for a big game as he rushed for 54 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries.

With Williams sidelined for most of the game, backup Malik Davis took over the backfield and had a solid performance, rushing for 103 yards on 20 carries.

With Dallas eliminated from the playoffs and with them having just one more game left this season, it wouldn’t be a surprise if they were to sideline Williams for its regular season finale.

Cowboys-Commanders Recap: Cowboys deny Commanders of a comeback

Playing in the first of a Christmas Day triple-header, the Dallas Cowboys took down the Washington Commanders 30-23.

Dallas gained a 24-10 halftime lead, as Dak Prescott threw touchdown passes to tight end Jake Ferguson and wide receiver KaVontae Turpin. Williams had a first-half rushing touchdown prior to his injury.

The Commanders got a field goal from kicker Jake Moody and a rushing touchdown from running back Jacory Croskett-Meritt in the first half.

By the fourth quarter, the Commanders made it a one touchdown game. Croskett-Meritt broke free for a 72-yard touchdown early in the third quarter and the team got another field goal from Moody.

Cowboys kicker Brandon Aubrey also hit a field goal in the quarter, keeping Dallas on top, 27-20.

Another field goal by Aubrey with 3:59 left in the game to give Dallas a 30-20 lead, and Washington responded with a field goal of its own with 2:09 left in the game. That’s all Washington had as the Cowboys held onto the ball and ran out the clock at the end of the game for a 30-23 win.
