Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin is the longest tenured NFL coach, but the recent turn of events for the franchise has many fans booing him and asking for him to be fired. Tomline’s Steeler has lost three of their last four games as their playoff hopes slip with every loss.
NFL analyst Kimberley Martin shared a controversial take regarding this booing from fans towards the veteran NFL head coach. She asked Tomlin to consider resigning from the franchise. She believes that it will be best for Tomlin to go somewhere where he is respected and celebrated.
However, sports commentator Jason Whitlock took issue with this take from Martin. He explained that men have no problem conquering a place where they are not welcome.
“Kimberly, I get as a woman, you want to be somewhere where you’re celebrated, but this is a man’s game, and the great leaders are comfortable where they’re not welcome,” Whitlock said.
“Men didn’t want to be somewhere where they were welcome; they wanted to be able to say, ‘I’m going to conquer, and I’m going to claim this as my own. I don’t care what you think.’ That’s what football is about. That’s what male energy is about.”
Whitlock then went on to address the problem with the matriarchal black culture:
“The women convince black boys and black men that, ‘Hey, meet me in this very feminine, emasculated space and adopt my mindset.’ And that’s why, I’m sorry for saying it, but it’s just factual, you look around, and all these young black dudes got these feminized hairstyles. They overdose on jewelry like women. They’ve set the culture, and it’s horrendous, and it feminizes everything, and we have too much feminine energy running wild all over America, and that’s why little boys are playing sports against little girls, and we live in this illogical, delusional world. I’ve said a mouthful.”
Mike Tomlin Understands Steelers Fans’ Anger
After a strong start to the season, the Steelers have slipped to a 6-6 record on the season, tying them with the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC North Division. Their latest 26-7 loss came against the Buffalo Bills and this is the same game where fans at Acrisure Stadium booed the head coach. Chants of “Fire Tomlin” were also heard.
In the post-game interview, Tomlin admitted that he understands the anger from fans towards him.
“In general, I agree with them, from this perspective: Football is our game, we’re in a sport entertainment business,” Tomlin said Tuesday. “And so if you root for the Steelers, entertaining them is winning. And so when you’re not winning, it’s not entertaining.
“If you’ve been in this business, you understand that, and so I respect it,” Tomlin said. “I share frustrations, I understand what makes this thing go, and winning is what makes this thing go.”
The Steelers need to start winning, or else they might miss the playoffs and register their first losing record under Tomlin.
