Jason Whitlock Bluntly Drops ‘Serious Question’ for DeShaun Watson As Browns QB Returns To Practice After Longstanding Injury

Cleveland Browns insider Mary Kay Cabot shared the latest glimpse of Deshaun Watson engaged in practice and throwing passes. This was a positive update for the Browns quarterback, who suffered a ruptured right Achilles tendon in October 2024.

Sports commentator Jason Whitlock dropped a completely unrelated question after seeing Watson practicing.

“Is there a scientific study that says music, particularly rap music, enhances a football or basketball practice? Serious question. Does rap music increase focus and attention to detail?” Whitlock asked on X.

Watson is known to sing rap songs while in rehab. In 2017, when he was rehabbing from a knee injury, he posted a video, in which he was riding a stationary bike along with rapping. That season, Watson also shared that he enjoys music, dancing and “swag stuff.”

“I guess I have a couple moves here and there,” Watson said. “I’m a music guy so I like all types of music and just different cultures and different — like you said, swag stuff. I just try to stay up to date and just bring some fun into the locker room.”

    What’s Next For Deshaun Watson?

The Browns have officially designated Deshaun Watson to return to practice from the Physically Unable to Perform list. As a result, the Browns have 21 days to decide whether to activate Watson to the 53-man active roster or shut him down for the season.

Watson will start with individual drills and possibly progress to scout-team work before the Browns make any decision about returning him to game action.

Watson’s 2024 season ended after he re-ruptured the same Achilles tendon during rehab and underwent a second surgery in January 2025.

The Browns quarterback situation hasn’t been steady this season from any angle. They started with naming Joe Flacco as the starting quarterback, but after a poor start, they traded him to the Cincinnati Bengals. Dillon Gabriel was given the reins but after he suffered a concussion, fifth-round pick Shedeur Sanders has taken the mantle.
