Jacob Rodriguez’s five-year college career is coming to an end. However, with every end comes a new beginning, and Rodriguez’s next role is set to be in the NFL. Of course, to get to the NFL, he will need to work his way through potential opportunities to improve his draft stock, such as the Senior Bowl, Combine, and various miscellaneous opportunities.
However, come April, the linebacker will have a new home. Based on his resume, he could be a man in demand. Here’s a look at five of the best landing spots in 2025.
Top 5 Jacob Rodriguez NFL Draft Landing Spots That Make The Most Sense
#5 – Washington Commanders
The Washington Commanders defense broke in the 2025 regular season. Especially at linebacker, the team needs a facelift with stars from the mid-2010s still taking roster spots. Rodriguez would be an instant boost to the team’s defense and can learn from some of the best linebackers of yesteryear and today in the form of Von Miller and Bobby Wagner, assuming one or both return.
#4 – Buffalo Bills
The Buffalo Bills are in need of a young star on defense, and Rodriguez could be a quality shot at making one. Rodriguez’s six total sacks in his final two seasons would be exactly what the team could need. However, his ability to get players on the ground (led the Big 12 in solo tackles in 2024 and 2025) could be just as big a boost for a rushing defense that was 29th in the NFL.
#3 – New York Giants
The New York Giants are working on building a tough young nucleus up front with Abdul Carter, and could complement him with a potential star linebacker. The team already has a potentially star-studded young offense, and Rodriguez could be a big step toward elevating the defense as well.
#2 – Dallas Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys had one of the best offenses in the NFL, but also had one of the least dependable defenses. Jerry Jones tried to fix things by trading a 2026 seventh-round NFL Draft pick for Logan Wilson (Bengals media), but it didn’t work. As such, some premium young blood is needed. Rodriguez could help with the first key aspect of defense, which is getting players on the ground to elongate drives.
There is also enough sack and tackle-for-loss potential that the linebacker could help plug multiple needs.
#1 – Cincinnati Bengals
The Cincinnati Bengals sat alongside the Dallas Cowboys as one of the defenses that offenses craved to play in 2025. Joe Burrow is going to need to see some improvement to help out his explosive offense. As such, the team could do worse than going with Jacob Rodriguez as part of a multi-step plan to overhaul the defensive unit.
