The Kansas City Chiefs racked up their fifth win of the season on Monday, Oct. 27, as they defeated the Washington Commanders 28-7. However, in the process, they lost running back Isiah Pacheco, who left the Monday Night Football encounter with a knee injury.
According to Tom Pelissero from the NFL Network, the issue is considered a week-to-week one, and Pacheco has an MCL sprain.
“#Chiefs RB Isiah Pacheco, who left Monday night’s win with a knee injury, is considered week-to-week with an MCL sprain, per sources,” wrote Pelissero on X.

Pacheco is the Chiefs’ leading rusher, with 329 yards, but has only one touchdown in 78 carries from eight games this season. He isn’t among the leading runners in the league, though, as he ranks 28th in total rushing yards, 47th in rushing touchdowns, and 116th in yards per carry.
What Happened to Isiah Pacheco?
He suffered a knee injury in Monday’s game against the Washington Commanders, having been tackled low by Commanders cornerback Trey Amos, and was seen limping off the field. At the time of the injury, there were four minutes left on the clock. Pacheco picked up an MCL sprain in his right leg. His problem is considered a week-to-week assessment.
Is Isiah Pacheco Playing Week 9?
It’s too early to say, but it seems like he won’t. While not as dangerous as an injury to his ACL, a sprain to an MCL is still something to take care of. MCLs almost always heal without the need for a surgical procedure. It’s more than likely that Andy Reid will sit him out to protect him for a swift recovery.
Isiah Pacheco Fantasy Outlook
Don’t plan your week around Pacheco, as he is unlikely to play this weekend. However, it might be too early to trade him. Trade him only if you’re able to get significant value for him in the form of a standout player.
