The Green Bay Packers have a unique situation over at the quarterback position, as their top two quarterbacks were listed as questionable at the start of Week 17. Starting QB Jordan Love has been concussed, while backup QB Malik Willis is injured. Now that the team has practiced for Sunday’s showdown against the Baltimore Ravens, the big question is whether Willis will be available, especially as Jordan Love has been officially listed as “out.”
Malik Willis reportedly suffered a shoulder injury and had been dealing with an illness ahead of this week. He had limited practice on Tuesday before completely missing Wednesday’s practice, worrying many, as Love has not yet cleared concussion protocols. He did return on Thursday but once again had limited practice.
The Packers have now clinched a playoff berth after the Detroit Lions lost to the Minnesota Vikings on Christmas. However, they still need a quarterback, especially as Love is officially out for the Week 17 showdown against the Ravens. So, will Mailik Willis play?
Will Malik Willis Play Vs. the Baltimore Ravens in Week 17?
Because Malik Willis has had limited practices and was ill, missing Wednesday’s practice, fans were concerned, especially with the Packers’ current quarterback problems. However, after the team announced that Jordan Love will be out because he has not cleared the concussion protocols yet, it was revealed that Willis will indeed start for the Packers.
This was revealed by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, who stated the two important quarterback updates that Packers fans have been waiting for.
“ESPN Sources: Packers QB Jordan Love is out Saturday night vs. the Ravens due to his concussion and Malik Willis is expected to start,” he said in his report.
Officially, Willis is still listed as “questionable” by the team, but with their quarterback room growing thin, this might mean that the backup QB will indeed start against the Ravens.
Malik Willis Fantasy Outlook
While the news about Green Bay’s quarterback situation is certainly bad news for managers who have Jordan Love, it might be a boon for those who have Malik Willis. For those who have both of them, sit Love and start Willis. However, for those who have better quarterbacks, sitting Malik Willis would be a good option as well.
