Buffalo Bills running back James Cook has appeared in all eight of the team’s games this season. His performance carrying the ball has been an important aspect of the team’s offense, and a big reason it has performed well this season. The 2022 second-round pick is in the midst of his fourth NFL season.
While James Cook has not missed any time this season, he showed up on the injury report on Wednesday with a groin injury. Cook did not participate in practice on Wednesday and was a limited participant on Thursday.
“Bills CB Christian Benford was not on the practice field Thursday. He popped up on the injury report Wednesday with a groin injury. RB James Cook, DE Joey Bosa, DT DaQuan Jones and NCB Taron Johnson all returned to practice today.”

As things stand, there has not been an official statement made on whether Cook will be available on Sunday when the Bills take on the Miami Dolphins. However, it is a good sign that he was upgraded from a DNP on Wednesday to a limited participant on Thursday. That likely indicates that his injury is not too serious, which could point towards him being available on Sunday.
Fantasy Outlook for James Cook
So long as James Cook is in the lineup, the fantasy outlook for him is good. He is a must-start player, as he is one of the league’s top RBs on a dominant offense. Cook gets the vast majority of the snap share, making 153 carries for 867 yards and seven TDs this season. The next closest RB is Ty Johnson, who has less than 80 rushing yards this season.
As a result, Cook is expected to continue to dominate if he is in the lineup. He is coming off two straight games where he had 100+ rushing yards, achieving the feat five times this season. That includes rushing for 216 yards and two TDs on Oct. 26 against Carolina.
