Is George Kittle Playing Tonight? What Fantasy Owners Need to Know About 49ers TE Ahead of Week 17

This Sunday’s NFL slate will end in a bang, with the 11-4 San Francisco 49ers hosting the 4-11 Chicago Bears.

Both teams have already clinched playoff berths and will be fighting for the No. 1 seed with the winner moving closer to securing it. It will truly be one of most intriguing primetime matchups this season.

As the 49ers get ready to host the Chicago Bears tonight, tight end George Kittle’s status remains in question.

    George Kittle Injury Update

During last Monday night’s win against the Indianapolis Colts, George Kittle left the game early and did not return. He was also seen hobbling off of the field following the game.

Kittle suffered an ankle injury, which was later revealed to be a mid to low ankle sprain. He did not participate in practice this week due to the injury.

Will George Kittle Play Week 17?

The 49ers have all day to decide whether or not George Kittle will play. But as of Sunday morning, it doesn’t sound like the 49ers are optimistic that he will play. ESPN reporter Adam Schefter reported this morning that Kittle is ‘highly unlikely’ to play tonight.

Kittle has been questionable all week and still is, and the expectation is that he will rest this week. The 49ers have yet to rule him out, but don’t expect him to suit up tonight against the Chicago Bears.

Should You Start George Kittle or Hunter Henry In Week 17?

With the news that George Kittle is highly unlikely to play tonight, fantasy owners should start New England Patriots tight end Hunter Henry over him (or any other tight end on their roster for that matter.)

If fantasy owners don’t have a tight end rostered, they should pick one up now in case Kittle is ruled out.
