Is Christian Watson Playing This Week? What Fantasy Owners need to Know About Packers WR Status

The Packers lost in what was one of the more surprising results of Week 15. The Broncos came away with the home win after Green Bay led by double digits in the third quarter of the game. More bad news followed the Packer as Christian Watson went down with an injury during the game. Here is the full rundown on Watson’s status this week

    Christian Watson Injury Update

Watson looks like he hurt his left shoulder after landing on it in the third quarter of the game. The Packers would later rule it a chest injury. Watson would end up at a local hospital near the stadium in Denver to get extra testing done. This included a CT scan. The reports, according to Rob Demovsky of ESPN, indicated it was actually a shoulder injury and not a chest injury. Based on the two reports, it looks like a combination of both.

When Will Christian Watson Be Back?

Good news for Packers fans. Watson does not have a long-term injury, according to Demovsky. The young receiver could end up playing against the Bears. Although his status for this Sunday is still up in the air right now. While it is very much a possibility, everyone should be waiting for Coach Matt LaFleur to give an official update on the situation.

    Christian Watson Fantasy Outlook

While owners would love to have Watson out there for their playoff squads, they should be prepared if he isn’t. Watson has been hurt in the past, and the Packers will likely avoid playing him unless they feel like they have to. The issue is the matchup this week. The Packers are in a must-win type of game vs the Bears. The NFC North will be at stake this weekend. It just seems like a game the Packers would like to avoid losing.

Owners should use caution going into this week. Jayden Reed could be a great option as he would get most of Watson’s targets if he doesn’t end up playing. With no one knowing how painful it will be for Watson to give it a go, all anyone can do right now is wait.

    Bottom Line

In the playoffs, it is always better to be safe than sorry. Grabbing Reed as a backup would be a great option to stay afloat in case Watson is out. Owners don’t have the luxury of taking risks; from here on out, it is all or nothing.
