Not only does the Buffalo Bills quarterback, Josh Allen, have a lot to prove this postseason, but he’s also going into it not at 100%.
The Athletic’s Joe Buscaglia reported on Monday that the quarterback is dealing with some soreness issues, and while he didn’t specify more, he did say that the team feels like he’s doing slightly better than last week.
“Bills HC Sean McDermott said QB Josh Allen is dealing with some soreness and mentions it’s kind of like last week, but slightly in a better spot than he was this time last week. Allen’s X-rays came back negative from last night,” he wrote.

Allen has been dealing with a right foot injury for the last two weeks, after being sacked during Week 16’s victory against the Cleveland Browns. In Week 17, he seemingly aggravated the injury. He was heavily sacked during Sunday’s loss to the Philadelphia Eagles (five times) and was seen limping to the X-ray room in the game’s aftermath.
Sports Pundit Says No QB Will Be More Pressured Than Josh Allen
It’s often said that Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills missed a golden opportunity in the last four years, with them ruling the AFC East during the New England Patriots’ rebuild following Tom Brady’s departure. However, during that period, they were unable to translate that divisional dominance into even one Super Bowl title, even though they had one of the best quarterbacks in the league.
Now, under Drake Maye’s leadership, the Patriots have regained the AFC East lead, and the Bills are going into the postseason more battered than at any point in the last four years. That’s something that has been held against Josh Allen throughout his career: for all his MVP-caliber performance in the regular season over the years, he has never been able to be the same player in January.
Ryan Clarke believes that 2025 is the year for him to prove what he’s made of, and that could sit heavily on Allen’s shoulders. Speaking recently during a postgame feature on ESPN, the sports pundit even called him the most pressured player coming into this season’s playoffs.
“There’s no quarterback in the entire NFL that will have more pressure on them heading into the playoffs than Josh Allen,” Clarke said.

Through six seasons of postseason play, Josh Allen has managed a record of 7-6.
