The New York Giants became the second team during the 2025-2026 season to fire its head coach, moving on from Brian Daboll after a 2-8 start. Daboll was brought in prior to the 2022 season after serving as the Buffalo Bills’ offensive coordinator from 2018-2021.
Daboll led the Giants to the playoffs in his first season as head coach, finishing the 2022 season with a 9-7-1 record and earned a wildcard playoff win against the Minnesota Vikings. The Giants would then suffer three-straight losing seasons, and Daboll was let go midway through this season.
The Giants, being one of eight teams without a head coach, have begun its search to replace Daboll and could land a top head coaching candidate during this head coaching carousel. Let’s explore which coaches have the best odds to become the Giants’ next head (odds via DraftKings.)
Favorites to Replace Brian Daboll
#1 – John Harbaugh (-150, 60%)
After being fired by the Baltimore Ravens in a surprise fire, John Harbaugh is the current betting favorite to land as the Giants’ next head coach. As of Jan. 7, Harbaugh’s odds to be the Giants’ next head coach is -150, or a 60% chance.
#2 – Kevin Stefanski (+200, 33.3%)
Former Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski is the second betting favorite to become the next Giants’ head coach. At +200 odds, Stefanski has a 33.3% chance to land the job. Between Harbaugh and Stefanksi, the Giants have a 93.3% chance of landing either of one them, showing that they have one of the more attractive head coaching vacancies.
#3 – Mike McCarthy (+600, 14.29%)
After being fired by the Dallas Cowboys after the 2024-2025 season, Mike McCarthy took last year off from coaching. Interestingly enough, he has the third-best odds to become NY’s head coach at +600, or 14.29%.
Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley is the only other coach with a more than10% chance (10.53% at +850) to become NY’s next head coach.
