New York Giants Coaching Search: $16,977,927 Star Important Piece In Dictating John Harbaugh Interest Claims Insider

There are several teams, including the Miami Dolphins and the New York Giants, who are hot on the heels of hiring head coach John Harbaugh, following his departure as head coach of the Baltimore Ravens after 18 seasons. Harbaugh was fired earlier this week after the Ravens couldn’t make the playoffs due to losing 26-24 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Apart from Miami, which dismissed its head coach, Mike McDaniel, soon after Harbaugh’s dismissal, the Giants are also considered to be the leading landing spot for the veteran head coach. In fact, the Giants have the biggest selling point among all teams that should help them land Harbaugh. NFL insider Jordan Raanan wrote:

“Despite the Dolphins expected pursuit, John Harbaugh still has interest in the Giants job and an interview is likely middle of next week. Jaxson Dart’s presence is a significant reason for the interest. Everything I’ve heard is the Giants want Harbaugh badly.”

Jaxson Dart’s presence is what makes the Giants a noteworthy contender in the Harbaugh sweepstakes. After being drafted in the first round last year, the Ole Miss Rebels standout, who signed a four-year, $16,977,927 with the Giants, led the franchise in 12 games, going 4-8, while completing 216 of 339 passes for 2,272 yards, 15 touchdowns and five interceptions. He has also rushed for 487 yards and nine scores on 86 carries.

Giants GM Shares Jaxson Dart Reason For Attracting Best HC Candidates

Giants GM Joe Schoen publicly claimed that having a young quarterback like Jaxson Dart has put their franchise in a good position to get the best of the lot among available head coach candidates. This is because the best of the head coaches look for the best available talent whom they can nurture, develop and enjoy success with.

“From the people I’ve talked to, the consensus, there are a lot of potential head coaching candidates that are excited about the opportunity here because of Jaxson Dart,” the general manager said.

John Harbaugh certainly falls in that shortlist of head coach candidates who known how to handle a young quarterback, having done so with Lamar Jackson at the Ravens. Caleb Williams and Drake Maye are some of the quarterback examples who have benefitted with the arrival of new head coaches. The Giants are hoping the same happens with Dart in the near future.
