Garrett Wilson Injury Update: Jets WR Questionable to Return vs. Browns After Knee Scare

The New York Jets’ 27-20 win over the Cleveland Browns came with a worrying moment for their top receiver. Garrett Wilson, who had just worked his way back into full rotation after battling injuries earlier this season, went down with a knee issue midway through the game.

What was supposed to be a bounce-back performance turned into another frustrating setback for one of the Jets’ most important offensive weapons. Wilson’s return had given the Jets offense a much-needed boost heading into this divisional matchup.

Wilson had a quiet first half, struggling to record a single catch. It’d have been excused since he was coming back from an injury and had another half to prove himself for his team. However, the moment never arrived.

His chemistry with quarterback Justin Fields appeared to be improving week by week, and fans were hopeful that Wilson was finally back to full strength after missing time with a previous knee injury. That optimism didn’t last long.

In the third quarter, during a deep passing attempt, Wilson went up to make a contested grab and came down awkwardly. He immediately grabbed at his right knee and limped off the field with trainers by his side.

The Jets’ medical staff evaluated him on the sideline before placing him on a stationary bike, hoping to keep the knee warm. Moments later, the team officially listed him as “questionable to return.” The injury cast a shadow over what had been one of the Jets’ better offensive performances this season.

The team’s 27-20 victory over Cleveland was encouraging, but Wilson’s exit dampened the mood. His presence on the field changes how defenses line up. Without him, the Jets lose a dynamic playmaker who can stretch the field and create separation.

    What Happened to Garrett Wilson?

The injury occurred in the third quarter on what was designed as a deep shot play. Wilson broke free toward the right sideline and leapt to catch a long ball from Fields. As he landed, his right leg appeared to twist slightly, and he came down awkwardly.

The play was incomplete, and Wilson immediately showed signs of discomfort, clutching his knee as trainers rushed over. Even though he left the field on his own, jogging with a limp showed that the injury could be serious.

On the sideline, cameras caught him grimacing as staff examined his knee. After a few minutes of testing mobility, Wilson took to the stationary bike to keep the joint loose, but the concern was evident.

The team’s announcement that he was questionable to return confirmed that the injury wasn’t minor.
