Garrett Wilson Injury Update: What Fantasy Owners Need to Know About Jets WR Ahead of Week 8

The New York Jets are in dire need of any kind of help they can get, with their season being a disastrous 0-7 so far. While he might not be enough to tip the scales, the return of Garrett Wilson could at least give them a new weapon on offense. So would Breece Hall and Tyrod Taylor.

The three of them are considered day-to-day issues, and they may or may not return for the Jets game against another embattled franchise on Sunday, the 3-4 Cincinnati Bengals. Coach Aaron Glenn explained in the injury report on Wednesday.

Wilson is the team’s leading receiver despite not having played in Week 7. He has 395 receiving yards, with four touchdowns in 36 receptions. He has been the most targeted receiver, also, with 54 targets.

They could potentially be heading to Week 8 without their leading rusher, Breece Hall, too.

    What Happened to Garrett Wilson?

In Week 6 against the Denver Broncos, Garrett Wilson suffered a hyperextended knee. An MRI confirmed that no structural damage was caused by the incident, and he was expected to return in a couple of weeks.

Will Garrett Wilson Play This Week?

It’s unknown. While he missed Wednesday’s practice with the team, his injury status was upgraded from week-to-week to day-to-day on the same day by head coach Aaron Glenn. Glenn had said this earlier in the week:

“Shoot, I’m hoping he plays, but I understand how these injuries are,” Glenn said. “That’s any player that we have that has injuries. We want all those guys playing, but listen, I’m not a doctor. I listen to the docs, and they give me the best advice that he needs and for me to have so we can go forward.”

    Garrett Wilson Fantasy Outlook

To remain on the safe side of things, it would be better for fantasy players to get a different wide receiver on their starting lineup this weekend. If confirmation of his playing is reported, you can then add him. If not, don’t wait to see what happens. There’s an important chance that he will not return yet. But don’t trade him just yet; despite the atrocious season by the Jets, he has had a good season so far.
