Garrett Wilson Injury Update: What Fantasy Owners Need to Know About Jets WR Ahead of Week 7

The New York Jets have not yet won a single game this season after losing to the Denver Broncos on Week 6, 11-13. To make things worse for the team, wide receiver Garrett Wilson, considered one of their best players, has also gotten injured as the team continue their slide. He addressed his injury in front of reporters during the post-game press conference regarding the extent of his injuries:

“I’m going to find out here soon and know how to move forward based on what I find out,” he told reporters.

He is expected to get an MRI on Monday to look at the extent of his injuries, with an update expected around Tuesday morning.

Earlier, Wilson grabbed a lot of attention after getting into a heated argument with Jets head coach Aaron Glenn.

    What Happened to Garrett Wilson?

The Broncos vs. Jets game happened in London, with New York almost pulling off the victory. It ended even more badly for the team as they lost their top wide receiver, with Garrett Wilson suffering a hip injury. This happened late into the fourth quarter when he twisted his body awkwardly as he tried to catch a ball that he could not reach.

Wilson was limping after that play, leading many to believe it was a hip contusion. However, further examinations revealed it to be a knee injury, though doctors still have to run an MRI to see what extent does that injury have for the Jets star wide receiver.

Sports medicine physician and Injury Expertz CEO Jesse Morse pointed out that the best case scenario should be a mild sprain, though he also pointed out that this may be a torn meniscus which means he could be out for 3-4 weeks.

Is Garrett Wilson Playing Week 7?

No, Garrett Wilson has been ruled out for Week 7. According to CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz, the New York Jets’ star wide receiver will not practice this week and will miss Sunday’s game against the Carolina Panthers as he continues to recover from a knee injury.

While the injury isn’t believed to be long-term, the Jets are taking a cautious approach with their top offensive weapon. There’s optimism that Wilson could return as early as Week 8 against the Cincinnati Bengals if his recovery continues to progress well.

    Garrett Wilson Fantasy Outlook

Fantasy managers will need to look elsewhere for production this week, as Wilson has officially been ruled out. In his absence, expect Tyler Johnson and Arian Smith to see more opportunities in the passing game, though the overall offensive ceiling for New York remains limited.

The good news is that Wilson’s injury doesn’t appear severe, so he should remain stashed on fantasy rosters. If all goes well, he could be back in lineups as soon as next week – potentially reclaiming his value once healthy.
