New York Giants rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart receives key advice from former Super Bowl champion Bruce Arians regarding his style of play. The Giants quarterback has aggressively relied on his mobility and aggressive instincts to gain yards. While this strategy shows his toughness, it has already resulted in multiple concussions.
In a recent game against the New England Patriots, Dart scrambled toward the sideline for extra yardage rather than sliding or stepping out of bounds. As a result, he was hit hard by linebacker Christian Elliss. That hit came just a week after he suffered a concussion in the game against the Chicago Bears.
Arians was pretty blunt while giving advice to Dart during his appearance on The Pat McAfee Show.
“Well, when they don’t get their next contract because they’re never available, they’ll figure it out,” Arians said, before adding:
“I mean, you’ve got to step out of bounds. This is adult football, this isn’t Peewee. All right, you had to show you’re tough in Peewee football. This is the NFL. Quarterbacks are paid zillions of dollars. Your whole team, your whole city, your whole franchise depends on you. Do not be a damn idiot. Step out of bounds. Okay? I appreciate how mad you are about this, because I think Connor’s feelings about it also echoed your sentiments on it.
It’s like, we understand you’re tough. We appreciate that you are tough.”
We respect and appreciate your toughness Jaxson Dart..

Jaxson Dart Unbothered and Unlikely to Change
Despite what appears to be a sane advice, Jaxson Dart is not going to run scary because of injuries. After the Patriots game, the Giants quarterback was asked if he was going to make a change in his playing style and be less aggressive to avoid injuries. He said:
“Look, like, I understand the question, but this is football. Like, I’m going to get hit if I’m in the pocket or outside the pocket. I feel like I played this way my whole entire life. It shouldn’t be any shocker to anybody if you followed along with my career. We’re not playing soccer out here. You’re going to get hit. Things happen. It’s just part of the game.”
Dart might be tough but he also needs to be smart about the decisions he make. He’s still a rookie and in order to have a long career in the NFL, he might have to consider sacrificing a few yards.
