Kevin Stefanski walked into the 49ers matchup carrying momentum. The Browns were coming off a strong win against the Raiders, and it briefly felt like the team had finally found some rhythm late in the season.
That optimism didn’t last long. San Francisco dismantled Cleveland 26–8, exposing every flaw the Browns had been masking and sending the fanbase into full-scale frustration. For many fans, the performance was the final straw.
The calls to fire Stefanski erupted across social media as frustration spilled over. They pointed to the lack of preparation, the limited offensive creativity, and the overall regression from week to week.
“Fire Stefanski,” Barstool Cleveland posted.

“Play call was awful. I’m so f**king sick and tired of running the ball up the middle all the time. We have no read option or outside run in the playbook. At the same time it’s also pitiful for an NFL player not to be able to handle a snap. I don’t even see this sh*t in college,” a fan wrote.
“I mean what the hell?? Outsmart only yourself. I want him gone,” a fan wrote.
“It was his decision to go for it down 2 from his own 30 in the 3rd quarter. He’s a clown,” a fan wrote.
“Hopefully this is his last game,” a fan wrote.
“Geez some change is needed. At least to show fans the Browns give a sh*t about winning,” a fan wrote.
Stefanski has faced criticism throughout the year, but a blowout like this, against a contender, magnified every concern.
Shedeur Sanders Defended Kevin Stefanski
In the postgame press conference, Shedeur Sanders was asked about the aggressive play-calling Stefanski used during parts of the game. The question framed it as if Stefanski’s choices were part of the problem.
Shedeur didn’t let it slide. He pushed back immediately, calling the question out and defending his coach. He said he supported the decisions made on the sideline and emphasized that he enjoys being on the field, regardless of the situation.
“First, that’s a rude question to ask. If I think, it was a great call by my coach. … I like being out there playing. So whatever that comes with, it comes with, like we not going to be here and ever point fingers at no coach or do anything like that,” he said.

He made it clear he wasn’t pointing fingers at anyone on the coaching staff and that the players weren’t going to shift blame upward. His response stood out, especially on a day when outside criticism was aimed squarely at Stefanski.
