“Total Fumble”, “HARBAUGH SZN”: Fans React As Miami Fires HC Mike McDaniel After Devastating 7–10 Record

The coaching carousel continues in the NFL. This time around, it was the Miami Dolphins’ turn, firing head coach Mike McDaniel following a disappointing 7-10 season. He will likely find a job sooner rather than later, with him being one of the top offensive minds in the game. But it seems more likely that he will end up as an offensive coordinator than as a head coach.

It didn’t take long for fans to share their thoughts on the decision online. Given the timing of his firing, fans seem to think there’s someone whom the Dolphins should target immediately as a replacement: John Harbaugh, who was just fired from the Baltimore Ravens for missing the postseason.

HARBAUGH SZN 🔜,” said one fan trying to predict the future.

Others disagreed with the decision by the Dolphins.

“This is a total fumble by Miami. One of the best offensive minds in football that was stuck with a roster that just wasn’t good. Oh well… if he doesn’t get another head coaching position this cycle, he’ll get one after he ignites an offense as the OC,” explained one person.

“Mistake. That no one will see until he’s successfully elsewhere. It’s the Dolphins way,” claimed one person.

    Is this Tua Tagovailoa’s fault?

“Mike McDaniel lost his job because the Dolphins hitched everything to Tua Tagovailoa,” wrote one person.

Maybe McDaniel should head up north to Tampa?

“Do yall know what McDaniel could do with all the weapons in Tampa!?? My goodness hire this man Jason Licht,” claimed someone.

Or maybe he will be going to San Francisco?

“SF would be better off with McDaniel and returning to a heavy run first offense,” demanded someone else.

Just about every job was mentioned as a possible destination.

“Mike McDaniel! You are the new OC for the Detroit Lions!,” said another fan enthusiastically.

Mike McDaniel’s Record With The Miami Dolphins

In four seasons with the Miami Dolphins, Mike McDaniel managed to lead them to two winning seasons and two losing ones. The first two years seemed promising, with a 9-8 record in 2022 and an 11-6 in 2023. Both years, however, they fell in the Wild Card round of the NFL Playoffs.

In 2024, the Dolphins had an 8-9 record, and this worsened considerably in 2025, with them finishing with a 7-10 record.
