US President Donald Trump has publicly endorsed head coach John Harbaugh, who was recently let go by the Baltimore Ravens after 18 years of association. The Ravens’ 2025 season came to an end after the 26-24 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in the final regular-season game.
Shortly after the 8-9 regular season, the Ravens dismissed Harbaugh, who was the franchise’s winningest coach with a regular-season record of 180-113 and 12 playoff appearances.
On Wednesday, Trump went on Truth Social and posted an endorsement for Harbaugh, asking NFL teams to hire him as head coach soon.
“Hire John Harbaugh fast. He and his brother are total winners!! President DJT,” Trump wrote.
The president’s comments didn’t sit well with fans since he previously asked to keep sports out of politics.
“i thought it was keep politics out of sports though? What a fraud,” one fan wrote.
“Next thing you know, John Harbaugh is going to take over as Secretary of Defense,” one fan joked.
“This is somewhat confusing because Trump also said that the Ravens won their SB “largely due to Flacco being elite” and his “elite arm,”” one fan commented.
“The next Defense Secretary Jon Harbaugh,” one fan added.
“Blowing 4th quarter leads is winning? That’s news to me,” one fan wrote.
“Heard there’s an opening in Venezuela,” another commented.
Ravens’ “Incredibly difficult” Decision To Hire John Harbaugh
John Harbaugh’s Ravens defeated the San Francisco 49ers to Super Bowl XLVII victory in the 2012 season. He was one of the longest tenured head coaches in the NFL. The dramatic 26-24 loss in Week 18, where an unsuccessful field goal made the difference, led to Harbaugh missing out on the playoffs for only the sixth time in his tenure with Baltimore.
Team owner Steve Bisciotti called the firing decision “incredibly difficult”:
“Throughout what I firmly believe is a Hall of Fame coaching career, John has delivered a Super Bowl championship to Baltimore and served as a steadfast pillar of humility and leadership. He and his family have deeply embedded themselves in this community. For these profound contributions, on and off the field, we should all be forever grateful.”
Harbaugh himself expressed gratitude and appreciation in a farewell statement. With this firing, Harbaugh will be a key head coaching upgrade any team would want.
