Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams made a mistake while throwing from his own one-yard line during the game against the Pittsburgh Steelers at Soldier Field.
The moment happened early in the second quarter, when Williams snapped the ball and took too long to find an open man. In the meantime, Steelers defender TJ Watt grabbed the opportunity to take down the quarterback, who fumbled the ball. The ball went loose in the end zone and was recovered by Nick Herbig for a Steelers touchdown. The Steelers took a 14-7 lead after that play.

This gave another reason for fans to mock Williams.
“Fingernail polish got in the way,” one fan wrote.
“Bears are a QB away from being decent,” another fan reacted.
“The Williams experiment should end today. Right now. He’s not an NFL caliber player,” one fan commented.
“Caleb Williams thinks the NFL is the PAC-12 where he can run around,” one fan said.
Some fans pointed out TJ Watt’s game awareness against Williams.
“Rookie lesson right there. Can’t play casual with TJ lurking. That man turns pressure into points,” one fan wrote.
“T.J. Watt just passed his brother on the all-time sack list while sacking the #1 overall pick in his own end zone for a touchdown. That’s not a play, that’s a family group-chat massacre,” another fan praised the Steelers star.
Caleb Williams Rated Highly By Steelers Defender
Before coming into this game, Steelers defender and now all-time NFL sacks leader TJ Watt spoke highly of Caleb Williams, who is having a career year.
Watt spoke about the massive challenge that comes with defending against Williams. He said:
“Getting him down. He is the guy who can break a lot of tackles in the pocket, out of the pocket. Very lively arm. Can obviously extend plays, can scramble for first downs… And then just playing some good football.
“He’s got a good feel for the line to gain,” Watt added. “At moments he definitely can tuck and run. But for the majority, he’s looking to throw it and he trusts his arm… He makes some incredible throws on the run.”
Caleb Williams has led the Bears on the cusp of playoffs, as the team is 7-3 entering the game against the Steelers. In 2025, he has passed for 2,329 yards with 13 touchdowns against four interceptions. The former No. 1 pick has also rushed for three touchdowns this season.
