The Browns decided to fire their 2x NFL Coach of the Year, Kevin Stefanski, after a 6-year partnership together during which he secured an overall record of 45-56.
The franchise released a statement in which they shared that while they have immense gratitude for Stefanski’s leadership in the last 6 years, they expressed their dissatisfaction with his performance in the past two seasons.
Owners Dee and Jimmy Haslam further said that they believe a change in head coaching is necessary, sharing that GM Andrew Berry will immediately begin the search for the franchise’s next leader.

Many fans conspired that Stefanski’s firing was a consequences of how he dealt with the QB situation at Cleveland, especially with Shedeur Sanders:

Emmanuel Acho Offers Insight on Whether Kevin Stefanski’s Firing Is Because of Shedeur Sanders
Emmanuel Acho and Co. predicted that Kevin Stefanski would be fired on Monday, during their latest Speakeasy conversation, which is exactly what happened.
While discussing whether Stefanski’s firing is Shedeur’s fault or not, Acho bluntly said that it’s nobody’s but the ex-Browns head coach’s fault.
The analyst further shared that he believes Stefanski dug up his grave the moment he drafted Gabriel over Shedeur in the 2025 NFL Draft.
“He was in a lose-lose situation the moment he made that decision. The draft is what got Kevin Stefanski fired.” Acho added.
Shedeur went 3-4 in the 7 games he started for the Browns this year.
