Something is amiss between Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver AJ Brown and quarterback Jalen Hurts, as the team ranks 16th in offense in the NFL. Brown, whose expectations regarding the receptions might not have been realized, called out the team’s passing game, which could be directly blamed on Hurts.
Hurts and running back Saquon Barkley even held a meeting to discuss the team’s offensive struggles, but Brown called it just a small talk.
In the wake of this escalating conflict within the locker room, former Eagles star and current Delaware State head football coach DeSean Jackson thinks the fight between Hurts and Brown might be beyond football.
“And as you can tell, it‘s something else going on,” Jackson said on the House of Action podcast alongside Clinton Portis. “And I got a great relationship with him [A.J. Brown], I respect him. I can’t say it. But I know, it’s something else going on. That it’s not all about football, not about X’s and O’s. I’ve had situationships with quarterbacks that I didn’t necessarily like. And I’m just gonna be honest. And when it ain’t there, it sticks out like a sore thumb.”
It’s hard to believe that anything is wrong between Hurts and Brown at a personal level. After all, the quarterback is named godfather of Brown’s daughter. However, it’s clear that, given Brown’s remarks, they must not be on good terms, at least inside the locker room.
In his remarks further, Jackson also commented that while Brown’s frusutrations are understandable, going public about it may not be entirely in team’s best interests.
Former Eagles Defensive Captain Comments On Deteriorating Relationship Between AJ Brown And Jalen Hurts
Former Eagles defensive captain Brandon Graham suggested that Jalen Hurts and AJ Brown’s relationship has changed.
“I don’t know the whole story, but I know that 1 (Hurts) is trying,” Graham said on SportsRadio WIP. (Brown) could be a little better with how he responds to things. They were friends, but things have changed. And I understand that because life happens. But (on) the business side, we got to make sure we don’t let the personal get in the way of the business… And that’s what we need to do better.”
Graham said both professionals need to have a conversation, especially the one who started it. That will be in the best interest of the team as the Eagles need them in good rep with each other if they want to defend their title this season.
