‘The First Lady of New England’: Fans React As Drake and Wife Ann Showcase Big Hearts With Amazing Thanksgiving Gesture

Drake “Drake Maye” Maye, as he’s affectionately called by his fans, has quickly become the face of the New England Patriots’ new era. His arrival marked a shift in tone for the franchise. Maye’s talent is obvious, but his humility and connection with the community have elevated him into something larger than a promising young quarterback.

New England sees him as the future, and they already treat him like a franchise pillar. More importantly, the Patriots fans are on board with the long-term plan as his impact off the field has only strengthened that perception.

Maye and his wife, Ann Michael, have been visible in the community since the moment he became a Patriot. Most recently, they delivered Thanksgiving food buckets to families in need across the region, helping distribute meals and essentials during the holiday.

The gesture resonated with fans after videos of the couple started doing the rounds on social media. Patriots supporters flooded Instagram with praise, calling the pair a perfect fit for the city and dubbing Ann Michael the “First Lady of New England” in celebration of her involvement in the community.

“The First Lady of New England (FLoNE) is so kind,” a fan wrote.

“King & Queen of the north,” a fan wrote.

“Drake and his wife are so nice and wholesome. It’s so great to see, good people doing well,” a fan wrote.

“Mr and Mrs. Drake “Drake Maye” Maye,” a fan wrote.

“This year I am thankful for Drake Maye,” a fan wrote.

“Not only is he our glorious MVP in football he’s our glorious MVP in every day life too,” a fan wrote.

Maye joined the Patriots in 2024 after they drafted him as their third overall pick in the draft. In such a short span of time, the 23-year-old has established himself as one of the most beloved athletes in franchise history.

Drake Maye Responded to Brian Burns

In the buildup to New England’s matchup with the Giants, star pass rusher Brian Burns tossed a pointed critique in Maye’s direction. Burns suggested the rookie was almost too calm in the pocket, implying that his focus on scanning the field sometimes leaves him vulnerable to pressure.

He also referenced the high number of sacks Maye has taken this season as proof that his patience can occasionally work against him.

“I do feel like he makes the right plays at the right time,” Burns said. “He does seem a bit poised, maybe a little bit too poised in the pocket, but just overall he’s been showing his talent for sure.”

Maye handled the comments with his usual composure. He acknowledged that he heard what Burns said but kept the conversation grounded.

“Not 100% [sure] what that really means,” Maye said. “I try to keep my eyes down the field with feeling pressure, I think that’s part of playing the position. Just trying to make the right play.”

He explained that being a quarterback means balancing vision with feel and that staying poised is part of his job. He emphasized that he respects Burns as a player and understands the challenge he presents.
