Did the Ravens Cut Tyler Loop? Latest Updates on the Rookie Kicker’s Status After Week 18 Blunder

With playoff qualification on the line, the Baltimore Ravens would have hoped that their regular-season finale against the Pittsburgh Steelers did not go the way it eventually did, as they narrowly missed out on a postseason appearance after losing 26-24 in week 18.

One specific moment that could’ve propelled the Baltimore-based franchise into the playoffs was when rookie kicker Tyler Loop was given a 44-yard field goal attempt, which did not go as planned.

This means that the Ravens finish their 2025 campaign with an overall record of 8-9.

Tyler Loop’s field goal mishap saw a viral report on Twitter initially suggesting that the rookie quarterback was cut from the side, which then turned out to be false. There has been no official confirmation or talk around the Ravens letting go of the rookie kicker, as Tyler Loop continues to be a part of Baltimore.

Throughout the course of the 2025 campaign, Loop has only missed four out of his 33 field goal attempts, with the rookie delivering solid numbers this regular season.

Loop Breaks Down the Moment Costly Field Goal Miss

Heading into Week 18, Loop had been flawless on all of his field goal attempts from inside 50 yards, with his only three misses coming from beyond that range. That perfect streak, however, came to an end in the final seconds of Sunday’s contest.

After his field goal miss, Loop addressed the media, explaining the infamous moment.

“Unfortunately, I just mis-hit the ball”, Loop stated after the game (1:45).

“We call it ‘hitting it thin’, it (football) just spins off the right”, he further elaborated (1:47).

The 24-year-old rookie was selected by the Ravens in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft. He became a regular for the side after Baltimore’s long-standing kicker, Justin Tucker, was suspended for 10 games.

Barring his infamous week 18 moment, it won’t come as a surprise if he starts regularly for Baltimore come next season, given his impressive debut season with the Ravens.
