This prompted fans on social media to respond to the situation with hilarious comments on X:
“Is Joe Mixon alive?”, asked a fan.
“is he dead?”, commented a fan.
“Was Mixon a fever dream this entire time?”, reacted a fan with a hilarious response.
“Can we get a wellness check on Joe Mixon “, stated a fan.
“Wow I lowkey forgot about mixon”, said a fan.
“Theyre trying to memory hole joe mixon like the mandella effect”, remarked a fan.
“Man… I hope we haven’t watched the last of Joe Mixon and just don’t know yet…”, wrote a concerned fan.
Meanwhile, Mixon hasn’t appeared in a single game for Houston during the 2025 NFL season, and the lack of information surrounding his injury status has turned his absence into a running joke amongst fans.
GM Nick Caserio Calls Mixon’s Recovery Situation “Complicated”
Meanwhile reports suggest that Mixon’s foot injury could be serious enough to end his season entirely. General manager Nick Caserio also acknowledged some progress in Mixon’s recovery but describing the situation as “complicated.”
Now, the veteran running back currently sits on the physically unable to perform list, where he’s been parked since before the season started. This has forced Houston to lean heavily on Nick Chubb and rookie Woody Marks to carry the rushing attack, with mixed results throughout the campaign.
The Texans did manage to secure their third victory of the season in Week 8, defeating the San Francisco 49ers 26-15 with Quarterback C.J. Stroud leading the charge in that contest.
