The Indianapolis Colts have placed four-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle DeForest Buckner on injured reserve with a neck injury. This will sideline Buckner for at least four games.
Buckner has been ruled out of the Week 10 game against the Atlanta Falcons. The game will happen in Berlin and the defensive tackle has not traveled with the team. As per the team’s injury report, Buckner has missed this week’s practice.
“Colts now have placed DT Deforest Buckner on injured reserve, sidelining him for a minimum of four games,” Adam Schefter reported.

The injury reportedly occurred during last week’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
While Buckner will be eligible to return in Week 15, his return timeline will depend on how his neck recover over the next four weeks.
How DeForest Buckner’s Injury Could Impact the Colts in Week 10?
DeForest Buckner is a key member of the Colts’ defensive unit. He has been tasked with heavy snaps and take on double teams. This year, he has recorded 33 QB pressures in nine games. He was second on the team in that stat.
In Buckner’s absence, the Colts will rely on players like Adetomiwa Adebawore and Neville Gallimore to pick up pressures and run-defense duties.
The Falcons offensive line will welcome this news as they won’t have to take on Buckner and his mighty defensive pressure to save the quarterback.
Ahead of the Falcons matchup in Germany, the Colts received cornerback Sauce Gardner from the New York Jets in exchange for wide receiver Adonai Mitchell and two first-round picks in 2026 and 2027.
Falcons coach Raheem Morris commented on how this will affect things in Berlin.
“It’s definitely going to affect some things we do, but it’ll probably affect them more in how they’re going to pay more attention to Drake and things of that nature,” Morris said in a press conference.
With Gardner’s presence and Buckner’s absence, the Falcons might have to employ the running game more. It remains to be seen if the Colts defensive line can hold itself in Buckner’s absence.
