Despite being in the middle of the best season in his career, at least in yards per carry so far, running back David Montgomery has had to contend with some backlash from fans who don’t seem to particularly like him. Specifically, one female fan has taken to bashing the Detroit Lions star through Instagram direct messages.

Montgomery has decided to expose the individual, publishing screenshots of the conversation, or rather, her constant yet unanswered messages. The messages look incoherent, and no obvious initial incident seems to be shown, but the woman has threatened him with physical violence. Well, she threatened him with physical violence by her boyfriend.
“my boyfriend meet u right here. smash yo head in,” wrote the woman
David Montgomery didn’t really seem to know what to do about it, reposting the screenshots and adding the following caption:
“She talking crazy,” he said in the first story
He then exposed her profile.
“Here yall go,” Wrote Montgomery
What Are David Montgomery’s Numbers So Far In 2025?
Montgomery has so far run for 334 yards, with four touchdowns in six games and 65 carries. His total number of yards and carries rank nowhere near the top of the league (21st and 27th, respectively), but he has been highly effective in reaching the endzone. In that stat line, he is tied for the best seventh spot in the league.
But more importantly, he seems to be on his way to his best season so far in his career, or at least the most efficient. He’s running for 5.1 yards per carry this season, which is almost a yard more than he did last year (4.2 yards per carry in 2024) and half a yard more than his best yards per carry season in 2023 (4.6 yards per carry). That year was his most productive season, with 1015 rushing yards (55 yards less than his best total yards season in 2020) and 13 touchdowns (The most in his career).
