‘You Cant Grind With Attractive People’: Dave Portnoy Blames DWTS for Braxton Berrios and GF Alix Earle’s Shocking Breakup

The split between Braxton Berrios and Alix Earle has dominated the celebrity and sports chatter, especially as more details surface around their time apart during Dancing With the Stars. The two had been together for more than two years, and while neither has publicly addressed the breakup, the reporting around it has grown quickly.

Much of that discussion has circled back to Earle’s DWTS run and how visible her life became during the competition, while Berrios’ absence from the live shows did not go unnoticed.

Dave Portnoy added a new spark to the conversation after weighing in on social media. He argued that no couple survives the kind of up-close rehearsal routine DWTS demands, pointing out that spending hours dancing with someone attractive every day for weeks can strain even the strongest relationships.

“Duh. No relationship survives dwts. You can’t grind with attractive people for 2 months straight every day and survive it,” Portnoy commented on an Instagram post by ‘

His comment echoed what many fans had already speculated as Earle continued through the competition while Berrios remained focused on his NFL season. During DWTS, viewers repeatedly pointed out that Berrios was nowhere to be seen.

Earle addressed one of those comments directly on TikTok, saying Berrios was tied up with football and that their schedules simply didn’t line up. That response briefly silenced the questions, but the conversation returned once news of the breakup surfaced.

Neither Earle nor Berrios has issued a statement on the split, but multiple outlets have confirmed it through sources close to the couple. The contrast between her visibility during DWTS and his limited availability contributed to the perception that distance had started to shape the relationship.

Braxton Berrios Helped Alix Earle During DWTS

Before the breakup headlines surfaced, Earle often pointed to Berrios as one of the anchors in her life during the early stretch of Dancing With the Stars. She talked about the long rehearsals and the mental grind that came with learning new routines each week, and how she depended on him when the pressure started to stack up.

His reassurance mattered to her, especially on days when things weren’t clicking in the studio. The two stayed in close contact throughout that period. She made time to call him whenever she could, and he returned the support despite juggling the demands of the NFL season marred by injuries.

“He’s so supportive,” she SAID. “I FaceTime him every day and every chance I get. He’s always supportive and I’m there to support him too. We’re both on crazy schedules right now, but it’s been great supporting each other and getting to see each other.”

At the time, the dynamic looked steady. Their commitment to staying involved in each other’s days felt like a strength, even with both living on tight timelines. That makes the quiet unraveling of their relationship stand out even more.
