It doesn’t seem like Darius Slay is interested in continuing his football career, shortly after he parted ways amicably with the Pittsburgh Steelers. It seems like the veteran cornerback is principally centered on being a father at this point in his life, and who could blame him?
Dear Bills fans,
Darius Slay has all the respect in the world for the Organization, but he also has a 18 year old son in his senior year.

In a recent sitdown with Emmanuel Acho, the Super Bowl champion said the following about an offer from the Buffalo Bills after they picked him up on waivers:
“That’s a top (tier) organization. It wasn’t a bad fit, they just caught me at a bad time…
“…I’m trying to relax with my family and kid… if they would’ve caught me about 28-29 years old, I wouldn’t have no problem. I would’ve been ready.”
It seems like his main problem was that he didn’t feel like moving to a new city at 34 years old. It also didn’t help that Buffalo is extremely cold at this time of the year, and he’s a native of southern Georgia.
The Buffalo Bills weren’t the only franchise to make a waiver claim on Slay, as the Philadelphia Eagles also tried to get their hands on the cornerback. It just happened that the Bills had priority. He played five seasons with the NFC East team, winning a Super Bowl with them.
Darius Slay’s Agent on Why the Cornerback Decided Not to Join the Buffalo Bills
The Bills picked up Darius Slay on waivers Wednesday, and Thursday, his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, explained why the player had decided not to report to Buffalo to play the rest of the season.
“Slay is honored that a first-class organization like the Bills claimed him, but he is going to take some time away from football right now and decide in the next few days if he wants to keep playing,” Slay’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, told ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Thursday.
The Buffalo Bills come out losing in this situation, as they waived cornerback Ja’Marcus Ingram, who was taken by the Houston Texans on Thursday. Now they face the final leg of the season without depth at a key position in the secondary.
