Commanders’ HC Dan Quinn Blames Himself After Jayden Daniels’ Nasty Injury

Washington Commanders coach Dan Quinn is blaming himself for the nasty injury of one of his standout players, Jayden Daniels. On Monday, Nov. 3, Quinn and his Commanders faced Mike Macdonald’s Seattle Seahawks in their Week 9 matchup of the 2025 NFL campaign at Northwest Stadium in Landover, Maryland.

Unfortunately for the Quinn and the Washington-based squad, their starting quarterback, Daniels, went down with a gruesome dislocated elbow, with seven minutes and 39 seconds left in the fourth quarter. The Commanders’ faithful have since clenched their fists, as one of their best players has been injured

During the post-game press conference, Quinn said:

“ I know many of you have been asking about the thought process of Jayden being in the game, in that situation, and I get that. I’ve been thinking about it honestly, nonstop too. And, you know, for me the answer is, man, I missed it. But I would, you know, I’ll fill you in on my thought process. At the start of the fourth quarter, I guess it was probably like 12 and a half minutes left in the game, and that was gonna be the last drive for a couple of guys, Jayden and Zach and Deebo and LT.”

“And so we weren’t gonna have any re-run plays and, meaning no carries, you know, for the quarterback on a run. And honestly, man, that’s where I missed it. Of course, he could scramble. It’s Jayden, it’s what he’s special at, and that is 100%. That’s on me,” he added.

While Quinn explained his thought process that apparently led to Daniels’ injury, the latter’s sophomore stint in the league has presumably come to an end. This was Daniels’ second run with the Commanders, but it wasn’t what anybody expected, given their standing. He was selected by the franchise in the 2024 Draft with the second overall pick in the first round.
