It is no secret that the Indianapolis Colts’ quarterback room is in crisis mode right now, after back-to-back quarterbacks got injured, forcing the team to sign Philip Rivers from the practice squad. The team’s quarterbacks are pretty banged up, especially with the usual QB1, Daniel Jones, placed on Injured Reserve.
With Philip Rivers’ arrival with the team, how does the new depth chart look, and how will it affect Fantasy football? A lot, actually, especially with Anthony Richardson and Daniel Jones in the injured reserve and Riley Leonard questionable. Despite this, their most veteran quarterback will actually be the one starting.
At QB1, the 44-year-old Rivers will be starting again, and he has been back working out for the Colts in their facility. He had retired previously, but is now back and aiming to take his old team to the playoffs again. He has thrown for 4,169 yards, 24 touchdowns and 11 interceptions last season, before retiring and coming back, so he might be a sound pickup for Fantasy managers after losing Jones.
Rookie Riley Leonard will be taking a backseat again, this time to the veteran quarterback. He used to be the Colts’ emergency third-stringer and later became the starter after Daniel Jones’s season-ending injury, but now he is back as backup QB for Week 15.
Anthony Richardson was listed as QB3, though he is still on the injured reserve, so Fantasy managers who have him either sit or drop him. He is dealing with a fractured orbital bone and may miss the entire season.
Brett Rypien is their QB4, and he was also signed to the practice squad after Richardson got injured. He has been bouncing from one team to the next and is expected to be their emergency quarterback. With all the injuries that the Colts have at that position, they certainly need one.
What Are The Indianapolis Colts’ Playoff Chances After Having A Lot Of Injured Quarterbacks?
Currently, the Indianapolis Colts still have a good chance to make the playoffs, but they are hanging on to that Top 7 spot on a thread after all their quarterback injuries. With a proven but ageing quarterback at the helm, the Jonathan Taylor express may be back on track, but what are their chances right now?
NFL Next Gen Stats has estimated that the Colts only have a 50% chance to make the playoffs, though if they win during their next game, they could improve those odds to 86%.
