After missing two weeks and having his backup outshine him in those games, the Carolina Panthers have some positive news regarding the injured Chuba Hubbard ahead of their Week 7 showdown against the New York Jets. Hubbard missed two games already, during Week 5 and Week 6, with backup running back Rico Dowdle playing so well that it raised questions on what might happen should he return.
What Happened to Chuba Hubbard?
During the Week 4 showdown against the New England Patriots, Chuba Hubbard hurt his calf further, causing him to miss two games. Ahead of that game, the running back was already suffering from an injured calf, and it got worse in that game against the Patriots. He was taken out but ultimately returned and played in that game.
Since then, Panthers head coach Dave Canales has ruled him to be day-by-day and are constantly monitoring his progress in healing up. He was questionable for Week 5 and Week 6 and was ultimately ruled out of both games, with the Panthers taking further precautions so he would not get hurt any further.
Is Chuba Hubbard Playing Week 7?
The question now is, will he play? According to ESPN analyst Adam Schefter, yes he will. He noted that Chuba Hubbard has officially been taken off the injury report and will be playing on Sunday against the still-winless New York Jets.

However, it should be noted that while he may be allowed to play, it was not revealed if he would be allowed to play for long or just have limited minutes as to not injure himself further.
Chuba Hubbard Fantasy Outlook
While his return is cause for celebration for Fantasy managers who have him, it should still be noted that he might not even start, as Canales may still choose to go with Rico Dowdle. That being said, expect the Panthers to do a rotation between the two of them during the next few games, as Dowdle has become a fan-favorite and is producing monster numbers for Carolina.
