Christian McCaffrey and the San Francisco 49ers are taking on the LA Rams on the road during Thursday Night Football. Both teams have had solid starts to their seasons, getting 3-1 records over the first month of NFL regular-season action.
Someone who has been spotted tonight supporting McCaffrey is the running back’s wife and former Miss USA, Olivia Culpo. The model posted a picture on her Instagram story showing herself and her daughter, Colette Annalise McCaffrey, at SoFi Stadium supporting the 49ers star.
She wrote the following caption on the story:
“Let’s goooo daddy!!!!@christianmccaffrey @49ers”
McCaffrey is the key element of his team’s offense tonight, as both starting quarterback Brock Purdy and tight end George Kittle aren’t on the field due to injuries. Purdy was injured in Week 1 during San Francisco’s victory over the Seattle Seahawks. He was out with a toe injury in Weeks 2 and 3. He returned for Week 4’s loss to Jacksonville. Due to the quick turnaround for the Thursday Night Football, the coaching staff decided to rest him this week.
Kittle, on the other hand, suffered a hamstring injury in Week 1 against Seattle and has been placed on the injured reserve since then. He’s expected to return next week for the game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Receivers Jauan Jennings (ankle/rib), Ricky Pearsall (knee), and Jordan Watkins (calf) are also missing. This makes McCaffrey almost the only starter making an appearance with the offense tonight.
Christian McCaffrey’s Numbers Tonight Against The LA Rams
McCaffrey is the leading rusher tonight for the San Francisco 49ers, with 56 rushing yards in 17 carries so far. Due to the depleted state of the receiving corps, he has also played a significant role there, supporting backup quarterback Mac Jones. He has five receptions for 44 receiving yards.
Overall, this season, in 69 carries, he has recorded 235 rushing yards, with no touchdowns. This isn’t exceptional. He ranks ninth in number of carries and 23rd in rushing yards in the NFL. He has scored some touchdowns, but in receptions. He has 305 receiving yards so far, in 31 catches with two touchdowns.
