After suffering a season-ending ankle injury last season in Week 7 against the Baltimore Ravens, Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin began the season inactive, as he recovered from his injury.
Godwin, an eight-year veteran prior to this season, was extended by the Buccaneers, as the two sides agreed to a three-year, $66 million contract extension. Despite the season-ending injury, the Bucs showed their loyalty and confidence in their star receiver. However, the injury bug would hit Godwin early this season.
What Happened to Chris Godwin?
Chris Godwin missed the Buccaneers’ first three games of the season before returning on September 28 against the Philadelphia Eagles. However, he hasn’t played since Week 5 after he suffered a fibula injury against the Seattle Seahawks.
When Is Chris Godwin Coming Back?
Chris Godwin practiced for the first time last Wednesday after suffering his Week 5 fibula injury. Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles provided some optimism about Godwin possibly returning this week, as he said he and Bucky Irving’s reps will be ramped up in practice this week.
HC Todd Bowles says the Bucs are “ramping up” the reps this week in practice for Chris Godwin and Bucky Irving. Will know more after full-speed practices on Thursday and Friday.

Godwin’s status in practice the next two days should show whether or not he will be good to go this Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams.
Should I Drop Chris Godwin?
If you have Chris Godwin still on your roster, you might as well keep him, especially if you’re in position for a playoff spot. When healthy, Godwin is productive receiver and is part of one of the best 1-2 WR duos in the NFL with Mike Evans.
Best Fantasy Replacements If Chris Godwin Misses This Week
If you are looking to replace Chris Godwin this week, your options are slim heading into Week 12. Carolina Panthers wide receiver Xavier Legette had the second most fantasy points last week with 16.3. He could be a good pickup.
New York Jets wide receiver John Metchie could be another pickup, as he had a season high 12 points last week and could get more targets with Tyrod Taylor.
