The Kansas City Chiefs’ dynasty just came crashing down, as Patrick Mahomes’ team was taken out of contention for a spot in the NFL playoffs after their 16-13 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday, Dec 14. This brought to an end a 10-year postseason run by the Midwestern franchise, which went back to Alex Smith’s tenure as the team’s quarterback.

Kansas City Chiefs vs. Los Angeles Chargers: Stats
The Chargers defeated the Chiefs 16-13 on Sunday, bringing to an end their decade-long playoff run. Patrick Mahomes had one of his poorest games in recent memory, throwing only for 189 yards, with no touchdowns and one interception. He had a poor completion percentage of 57.1%.
The Chiefs could’ve easily won the game, as they had 239 total yards to Los Angeles’ 295, and nine first downs to their opponents’ nine. But their main problem was their inability to turn this offensive production into points. Another problem they had was turning over the ball, which they did twice in the form of interceptions, one by Mahomes and one by Gardner Minshew, who took over an injured Patrick Mahomes late in the game.
Their rushing game was equally poor, with only 49 rushing yards in a committee effort that produced one touchdown.
