Chicago Bears Trade Rumors: Team Reportedly Eyeing Bengals $30M Worth DE Ahead Of Deadline

Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Trey Hendrickson might be up for grabs and one team eyeing him is the Chicago Bears, who ranks among the league’s worst in sacks and quarterback pressures.

According to a report by Polymarket Football, after the Bengals’ 2-3 start to the season compounded with quarterback Joe Burrow’s injury, there wasn’t much to play for in Cincinnati for Hendrickson. As such, he could be trade pieces and if that happens, Bears and the Indianapolis Colts are the interested parties.

It has been an evolving relationship with Hendrickson and the Bengals. Last year, the club shot down his trade request last year but when he sought for it in March, the Bengals granted it.

“It’s been an honor and a privilege to represent Cincinnati over the last four years,” Hendrickson said in March. “I love this city and organization. I appreciate the privilege of now being allowed to explore my options.”

Earlier in August, the 2024 NFL sacks leader ended his holdout with the Bengals by signing a one-year, $30 million contract. It was a $14 million increase from his previous salary and the defensive end will become a free agent after the current season.

Bengals Asking Too Much For Trey Hendrickson

Trey Hendrickson has played five games so far this season, recording 4 sacks, 10 solo tackles, and 1 forced fumble. The Bengals are set to face the Green Bay Packers in Week 6. The Packers may be without left tackle Rasheed Walker, who is doubtful for the game. In this scenario, Hendrickson could overpower on the Packers’ weak offensive line.

As such, even if the Bengals are willing to trade Hendrickson, they won’t let their star defender walk free without a substantial return. According to The Athletic, the Bengals are seeking a “young defensive player and a 2026 first-round pick” in exchange.

As per Dianna Russini’s report, one NFL general manager finds the asking price “ridiculous” and “too steep.” However, the word on the market is that as the November trade deadline, closes in, asking price will gradually decrease.
